Dun Cow landlord Geoff Rayner, who has welcomed the likes of Tony Blair and George Bush, celebrated his 40 year milestone this month.
MP Phil Wilson, who has been a customer at the Dun Cow Inn for many years, congratulated Geoff and raised a toast to his prolonged success.
Mr Wilson said, ‘Geoff has done, and continues to do, a fantastic job here at the Dun Cow in Sedgefield. The continued success over such a long period of time is a testament to his hard work and commitment.”
“I personally have enjoyed some great times in the Dun Cow, and Geoff has always demonstrated a high level of hospitality.”
“We are very lucky to have him in the constituency” he added.
Over the years Geoff has welcomed all manner of guests, including then US President George Bush and Tony Blair in 2003.
Speaking about his time at the Dun Cow Geoff said ‘I’ve had a lot of memorable moments at the Dun Cow Inn over the years – serving the local community and world leaders alike’ he added. ‘I treat everyone with the same hospitality, whether they’re a president, local or traveller dropping in – everyone’s welcome.’
In a show of appreciation, and to recognise Geoff’s 40 years’ service, Enterprise Inns presented with a bottle of champagne and a bouquet of flowers.
Enterprise CEO, Simon Townsend, in a personal message to Geoff Rayner said: ‘It is a huge achievement to maintain your motivation, passion, energy, and commitment in order to be successful over such a long period of time, and you must be hugely proud of what you have achieved over the years.’
